Welcome to Jamaica Mon

December 24
Today we docked at Falmouth, Jamaica. We all walked into the tourist area and Susan and I decided to take a trolley ride of the town. Falmouth, Jamaica is a very poor country and I found it dirty, litter everywhere, dilapidated and crumbling buildings and everywhere you looked people were begging or trying to sell you something. I found it depressing. At a gas station I noticed that gas was $6.00 a gallon.

  1. We’ve had a missionary priest from Jamaica every year speak at St. Francis. He has always talked about the poverty. But I didn’t know it was so “everywhere” there.

  2. We were in Jamaica 40 years ago on vacation. We rented a 6 bedroom Villa with several couples & played golf, etc. It was in a beautiful resort area, but if you went out & around where the native people lived. It looked just like your photos, very poor & run down. Many countries you visit are like this. Glamour for the tourists and the rich. Not so, for the natives. Carol
