  1. The shadow makes it difficult to see the bazaar walkway. Above is a new mosque and minaret. The bazaar is by Kruge castle and the old mosque and olive tree. I didn’t take a picture of the castle because it had been restored and looked new. There are castles all over Albania. That’s guide told us that the castles could communicate by lighting fires and that all the castles in the land could receive the message in 20 minutes.

    • These two women were in the bazaar. The weaver was in a shop that sold rugs or whatever she was weaving. The woman in the next two pictures was selling branches to the shopkeepers to use as brooms to sweep in front of their shops. She looked like someone from a century ago. As she went by, two young girls were coming toward her. They were dressed as any American schoolgirls would be. That’s contrast was startling and I wish I’d gotten a picture them together.

  2. The fire communication is really interesting – sort of like American Indians with their smoke signals I guess. But just 20 minutes to alert the entire country is pretty spectacular.

So glad you’re getting to see those sights in the bazaar. We found the same striking contrasts when traveling in the Turkish countryside.

  3. It is very interesting. When I click on the picture it is gigantic and as I scroll I can see the smallest details which are fascinating.
The woman in the next two picture I thought looked like a woman from another century and then I read your comment. Yes, what a contrast.
