It’s never too cold, windy, or rainy for a little ice cream and family!
Traveling with my Aunt and Cheryl has been a blast. Our last trip together to Croatia was full of laughs, love and friendship… thanks ladies for making memories with me… I will never forget them!

I share your sentiment! Our 6+ hour drive to Dubrovnik, Croatia was one of the most rewarding experiences. We drove from Tirana, Albania through two countries (Montenegro & Bosnia) en route to Croatia, an adventure we will likely cherish forever; I know I will. Along the way, we observed picturesque landscape, foreigner driving at its worst, stray dogs, cats, goats, donkey’s and cows, rivers of all sorts – those that branched or forked into a large volume of water and those that gained promise from the rain but dried before streaming into a natural flowing wonder. We ate salami & cheese sandwiches in an “on-the-road, automobile” picnic and satisfied our craving for dessert with a piece of chocolate. We laughed, slept (well, okay…I did), deferred to “Google Maps” to get us from Point A to Point B (thanks, Julie!) and relied upon Susan’s excellent driving skills to navigate us there safely, albeit we experienced a few “hairy” moments in the process – cliffs with no railings, sensitive brakes on the rental car, stray animals and odd natives wandering in the roadways! – I wouldn’t trade any of it for anything in the world and reaching our final destination of beautiful Dubrovnik justified the drive, the insanity of testing our cold-ridden, fatigued bodies and taxing our energy, only to find it again in the strength of Dubrovnik. We walked the Old City, dined in traditional eateries, ate delightful ice cream, walked in the rain, ran in the rain and captured some of the most magnificent moments in the rain – it was an unbelievable trip, so yes, thank YOU for the laughs, love and friendship!
Julie and Cheryl, Such lovely memories to cherish for a lifetime, and to share again and again over a glass of wine or to warm you in the middle of a sleepless night.
It sounds amazing. I would have been shaking in my boots driving on roads with cliffs without railings. Glad to hear you are all having so much fun.
Julie was shaking in her shoes and so was I. It was scary, but Susan said her hands never broke a sweat; we simply made lots of stops, hugged the middle of the road and eventually rode it out. HA!
One always can depend on Susan to get you safely out of a tight driving situation. I remember one time in Arles when I thought the only exit from a VERY narrow deadend street would be by crane – she deftly turned that sucker around without a scratch, earning a huge round of applause.
