The pictures are backwards in time. The cake was in a bakery in a neighborhood near our hotel. I liked the butterfly.
2nd and 4th pictures are from the cable car. It’s so smoggy you can’t see Tirana below. We should have been able to see all the way to the Adriatic.
3rd picture is the cable station at the top and a very nice hotel next to it. We wondered how the Albanians could have built this cable system when most everything else seems to be in a state of disrepair. Then I read in my book that it was designed (and built?) By Austrians.
Cheryl taking my picture on the way up. She gave me her little Canon so I’ll still be able to post photos. It’s like Elaine’s broken camera but newer.
I like the way you say “It’s like Elaine’s broken camera but newer.” I bet I have a new camera when you get back. These pictures when you click on them are not so huge. I wonder what you did differently?
Isn’t the smog awful? That’s to bad. I loved the butterfly cake. The cake has chocolate wings on the side. I wonder what the word is?
I just looked it up and urime means (in Albanian) Congratulations or Happy Birthday.
I thought it said “urine”. 🙂
So did I.
The Austrians could give them a pastry lesson or two as well as cable system advice…that cake doesn’t look too enticing. But I’ll bet the cable ride was fun and, thankfully, was in good repair. Too bad about your camera.
No kidding about the pastry. Nothing appealed. From across the street it looked like a French patisserie. Up close it looked like imitation.
