Back in Tirana

We rode the hop-on, hop-off bus around Rome much of  the day on Sunday until we were too cold to care any more.  We did hop off several times.  I bought some great, warm boots somewhere between the Spanish Steps and

My new, warm boots

My new, warm boots.                 the bone dry Fountain of Trevi.  We had lunch again at the ristorante Baccano, another place of good food and wine.  By 4:00 we were so cold that we went back to our hotel, picked up our bags and headed for the airport.  We killed time by shopping in the duty free shops and dinner.  Our plane left late and it was after midnight when we got to our hotel.  It took another two hours before we were ready to go to sleep.  Julie was up at the crack of dawn and off to work.  I have spent the day in a leisurely fashion, recovering from over 18,000 steps I walked yesterday, most of which were in my new boots.

  1. Sounds like a busy day yesterday and it is a good thing Julie is younger than you and can do all that and still go to work. You rest. Sounds like you did lots of walking and that is good.

  2. Well, heck – *anyone *can see Trevi with water in it. Very cool to see the statues up close and personal.

I think you’ll continue to get good use out of your new boots; I hear that Europe is especially cold this year.

  3. I love the boots. Can you play golf in them ? I think they will look good with your shorts and golf shirts. It sounds cold over there. Stay safe, The bombings don’t sound like to much fun. I’m sure your hotel is the safest place to be in the city. Keep having fun. Nancy B

    • I can’t wait to try playing golf in my boots. The most dangerous thing here is the traffic. They drive like maniacs! Being a pedestrian is a real adventure. You have to be vigilant at all times. It has warmed up nicely. 50 degrees today. A heat wave! (from Susan)

  4. Good news, Susie! BTW, the AT&T Pro Am is playing across the street from my house today. I’ll let you know if anyone’s playing in boots…Bill Murrey might be a candidate for that. 🙂
