Drought at the Fontana di Trevi.

Since I had already walked ten thousand steps, we took a cab to the Trevi Fountain.  It was being cleaned and no water was in it.  They’d put a ramp up so we could walk over it and see the sculptures up close.  Then we had delicious chicken Caesar salads at a terrific restaurant near by.  No wine.  I”m saving it for tonight at Otello alla Concordia.  However, I may drink less tonight because I kept Julie awake all night with my snoring and honking and wheezing.  I slept very well, which is all that really matters.

  1. The ramp at Trevi sounds like a great experience, not just the same old, same old. 😉 Wish I’d known where you were staying : the BEST organic, artisan gelato place is close by. I know that Julie is comforted knowing that you’re sleeping well.

      • OK…I can’t find the blasted card so don’t have the name but it’s easy to find. Walk from the Vatican area along the river to Castel Sant’ Angelo. Cross the bridge (this is a great walk btw) to Via Corona – a short pedestrian street between Castel S.A. And Piazza Narvona. About half way down on the right is the gelato place; you can watch the guys make it through a window and it’s made just before you eat it. The best ever. Our apartment was just off this street. A nice little inexpensive place for dinner close by is the Ancien Taverna- ask anyone in the area for directions. Mangiare bene!

          • Also close by is a good pizza place, Pizzeria de Baffetto. (via del Governo Vecchio at Via Sora.) That area is fun to explore, especially at night when things are hoppin’.

        • Too late. We’re back in Tirana. You’ll have to take me there one day. (This is really from Susan, but I post on the site under Elaine’s log-in, so it thinks I’m Elaine when I reply to a comment.)

  2. I’m thrilled to hear that your snoring is bothersome. Oh well. I am so envious and I can hardly wait to be in Rome myself. I know you must be sorry to miss Emily’s organic gelato. You are so into organic!
