Demeure de Flore

What a delightful stay we had at the Demeure de Flore Hotel in Lacabarede, France.  Our host was Francesco di Bari and his motto is la passione..il gusto.  After we settled in we went to the lounge and Francesco served us wine and delighted us by telling interesting stories about his visit to California 20 years ago.  He told us dinner would be shrimp ravioli, veal and chocolate cake.  Not only was he our host he was the chef also.  Dinner was beautifully presented and delicious.  It was a real treat staying at a ***hotel.  It was a magnificent hotel.

  1. Happy Mother’s Day to the best group of “old broads abroad” we know. We hope you are relaxing and enjoying yourselves! Make today about doing nothing, absolutely nothing – except driving in a car wondering where the GARMIN is taking you, searching for that “oh-so-perfect” hotel, fine dining, good wine & anyone who speaks a language you know (and if you know it, in a dialect you can understand!), meeting people who are so interesting they make your blog, becoming the hit of a late night bar party after one too many glassess of wine, followed by resting your head on your pillow and knowing how grateful people are that you are a part of their lives. Thanks for all you do!!

    • Wow, Cheryl, you knock our socks off with your delightful words. We’re having our cafe au lait right now before we set off for a day of exploring part of Provence. It’s nice to know you’re following our crazy wanderings. It’s really fun to know our friends and family are wandering with us. In the meantime, how ’bout that TIGER!!! I’m not even going to mention the damn Dodgers except to say that I’m not going to mention them. Love from Susan

      • Thank you for the wonderful comments. We love reading them and it inspires me to keep the blog going. We are at the Hotel Forum in Arles and Picasso stayed at this hotel and Vincent Van Gogh hung out at the restaurant across the street. The Romans had a forum here. For a history buff this is unbelieveable.

  2. You’re stories are so entertaining to read and I can just picture the 4 of you having all these wonderful, sometimes exasperating adventures. Parking is always an experience in those little villages & narrow streets. I’m amazed that Susan is such a great chauffeur. I would be in trouble. You seem to just all handle the situations very well, as long as the wine is available at the end of that days journey. Right? I admire all of you ol’ Broads. Can’t wait to hear more. Carol Berry

    • Thank you Carol for all the kind words. I could never drive in those little villages like Susan does. I am hysterical most of the time and I just can’t contain my fear as she drives through the little villages. Parking is a total nightmare as there are no parking spaces available most of the time. It is hard for us to even imagine not having parking spaces. You check into a hotel and ask them where you can park and they say they don’t know or it cost 10 Euros a night to park somewhere. It is really one of those most difficult aspects of the trip: parking.
